CRAB ORCHARD – A city vehicle caught fire Saturday morning while water department officials were responding to a water line break.
It was the city’s water department truck that caught fire, according to Crab Orchard Fire Chief Larry Owlsey.
As for the cause of the vehicle fire, Owsley said it could possibly be related to a portable pump that hooks into the truck and runs off of the truck battery.
City firefighters responded to the incident at 627 Elm Street and cleared the scene at about 12:30 p.m.
No injuries were reported but Owsley said the truck will have to be replaced due to the extent of damages.
Work was still being done on the water line break as of 2:30 p.m., Owsley said.
No boil water advisories have been issued in the area, according to the fire chief.
