Obituary: George Edward VanHook, 72
March 11, 2010

George Edward VanHook, 72, of Waynesburg, died Monday, March 8 in Stanford.

Born Monday, Oct. 11, 1937, in Pulaski County, George was a son of Doris Benge VanHook of Eubank and the late Vola VanHook. He was a farmer, member of Eubank Baptist Church, enjoyed baling hay and was an avid University of Kentucky fan.

He was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Trace and Josh VanHook.

Other survivors include his wife, Janie VanHook of Waynesburg; two sons, Pete (Diana) and Steven VanHook both of Waynesburg; a daughter, Marsha VanHook of Somerset; a brother, Larry VanHook of Somerset; three sisters, Lois Sharp of Eubank, Gene Correll of Somerset and Debbie Petrey of Lexington; a grandson, Dale VanHook; three special great grandchildren, Steven VanHook and Gracie and Abgail Day; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were March 10 at Barnett & Demrow Funeral Home in Waynesburg with Bros. Shelby Reynolds and Noel Dotson officiating. Burial was in Whitelilly Cemetery in Pulaski County.

Active pallbearers were Willie Rice, Terry Keith, Dale and Pete VanHook, Richard Maxie, Bill Jones, Donald Johnson, Doug Lay, Randy Story and Ernie Eldridge.
