Sharon L. Combs Singleton, age 61, of Tom Hackley Road in Danville, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born Saturday, April 7, 1956, in Somerset, Sharon was a daughter of the late Sherman and Mary Ann Napier Combs. She was the widow of Roy L. “Pete” Singleton, whom she married February 14, 2001 and preceded her in death March 19, 2010. Sharon worked in guest services at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill and was a member of First Apostolic Church in Danville. She loved her family deeply, never met a stranger and was kind to everyone in which she come in contact. Sharon was a member of Post #345 of the American Legion and enjoyed canning, cooking, gardening and UK basketball.
Sharon leaves behind one daughter, Dianna Combs of Danville; one grandson, Austin Combs (Heather) of Danville; two great-grandchildren, Alissa and Conner Combs of Danville; four brothers, Clifton Gene Combs (Linda) and Dean Combs (Johnny) both of Lexington, Gary Combs (Vickie) of Harrodsburg, and Doug Combs (Jean) of Waynesburg; five sisters, Linda McKinney (Donald) of Danville, Freda Trent (Walter) of Lancaster, Audrey Combs (Gary Padgett) of Waynesburg, Carolyn Petrey (Jerry) of Crab Orchard, and Sheila Lilly (Terry) of Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Clayton, Ray and Carlos Combs; and three sisters, Francis Smith, Faye McConnell and Lessa Combs.
Funeral services are 1 p.m. today (Thursday, April 13) at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Pastor Wayne Naylor officiating the service. Burial will follow in Double Springs Cemetery.
Austin Combs, Todd Coulter, Donnie McKinney, Daniel Elkins, Joshua Combs, Zachary Banks, Gene Smith, Lynn Petrey and Joseph Bond will serve as active pallbearers. Sharon’s beloved nephews and her Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill co-workers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home, Waynesburg, is entrusted with Sharon’s arrangements.
