FRANKFORT – Speaker Jeff Hoover has appointed 80th District State Representative David Meade, R-Stanford, to the Southern Legislative Conference (SLC) Executive Committee. The SLC’s mission is to foster and encourage intergovernmental cooperation among its 15-member states.
The SLC Executive Committee serves as the conference’s governing board, and consists of each state’s presiding and appointing authority, their respective House and Senate appointees, and all past SLC chairs still serving in a legislative capacity. The Executive Committee reviews the work of the standing committees to determine the usefulness and function of each. It also serves in an oversight capacity of the resources and assets of the organization.
“I am extraordinarily grateful to Speaker Hoover for appointing me to SLC’s Executive Committee,” said Representative Meade. “Having been active in SLC since I entered public office, I have seen firsthand the value of this organization when it comes to policymaking and governing. I’m excited about this opportunity, and look forward to sharing my insights on important policy matters.”
Meade represents House District 80 in the General Assembly, which consists of Lincoln and part of Pulaski County. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012, and was recently elected by his House Republican colleagues to the position of Majority Caucus Chairman, upon Republicans taking the majority in 2016.
