“Pat” Patrick O’Neil Sanders, 80

“Pat” Patrick O’Neil Sanders, age 80, of Stanford, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 19, 2017 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
Born Sunday, January 10, 1937, in Waynesburg, he was the son of the late Nicholas Patrick and Nora Greer Sanders. Pat worked as a barber in Stanford for over 58 years, was a former magistrate of Lincoln County and a member of Grace Fellowship Church. Over the years, he served on the Blue Grass Community Action Board of Directors, National Guard member, member of the American Legion, and was a Kentucky Colonel.
Pat leaves behind his loving wife, Shirley Sanders whom he married September 6, 2002; one son, Patrick Sanders II (Jennifer) of Stanford; one daughter, Theresa Sanders Long of Stanford; one step-son, Brian Srygler of Bonnieville; one step-daughter, Kelly Lamb (Robbie) of Lancaster; two sisters, Wanda Buuck of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Mary Smoley of Akron, Ohio; three grandchildren, Louanne Raider, Ryan Sanders and Jesslyn Kelsey; and three great-great grandchildren, Alexa, Molly and Kyrus.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Russell Sanders, Roby Sanders, Earl Sanders and Clyde Sanders; and five sisters, Lurlie Floyd, Lexie Skidmore, Cora Hoover, Lois Goad, and Wilma Greco; and Morris and Fred Skidmore whom he considered brothers.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Grace Fellowship Church with Bro. Vola Brown officiating the service. Burial followed in Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg. Visitation was was Monday at the church.
Active pallbearers were Robbie Lamb, Ethan Lamb, Bill Long, Ryan Sanders, Ronnie Sparks and Jordan Kelsey.
Fox & Friend Funeral Home, Stanford was entrusted with Pat’s arrangements.
