George B. Andrew, 91

George B. Andrew, 91, of Stanford, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, at his residence.

Born Thursday, July 22, 1926, in Jackson County, Ky., he was the son of the late Algin and Ida Vickers Andrew. His loving wife, whom he married March 19, 1949, is JoAnn Simpson Andrew of Stanford. George was a US Army World War II veteran and retired from his business, Andrew Automotive, which he opened in 1983. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, served as Sunday school teacher, deacon for 43 years, and Gideon for 42 years.

In addition to his wife, George leaves behind two sons, Ron Andrew (Della) of Somerset and Tony Andrew (Barbara) of Stanford; two daughters, Linda Taylor (Bill) of Statesboro, Ga., and Beverly Wells (Dewayne) of Morristown, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Fred Andrew; one sister, Sindy Horn; and one grandson, William Andrew Taylor.

Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Waynesburg, with Bro. Clyde Strunk, Bro. Vola Brown, Bro. Ron Andrew, and Bro. Kyle Page officiating the service. Burial, with full military honors performed by the Caswell-Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion, will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.

Jonathan Taylor, Stephen Wells, Phillip Wells, Rob Staples, Joshua Jacobs and Daniel Perry will serve as active pallbearers.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Dec. 14) at Pleasant View Baptist Church.
