The start of a new year means it is time for district competition to get underway.
For both the Lincoln County Lady Patriot and Patriot basketball teams, that time is Friday.
The Lincoln basketball teams travel to Danville Friday night for the first of six 45th District doubleheaders.
Lincoln, the defending district champion in both boys and girls basketball, tips off Friday’s doubleheader at 6 p.m., with the Lady Patriots, who are 10-3, taking on the Lady Admirals in the opener. The Danville girls come into the contest with a record of 5-8.
In the night’s second game, set for an approximate tip time of 7:30 p.m., the Patriots will be looking to move to .500 on the season. Lincoln currently is 7-8. Danville is also below .500 so far this season, coming into the game with the same record as its girls team, 5-8.
Lincoln will not play its first home district game until Jan. 26 against Boyle County.
