The Lady Patriots’ Spring Break journey south to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee proved to be a successful trip, as the team went 4-1 in the Cal Ripken Experience.
The Lincoln girls stumbled in their first outing, falling 10-7 to Archbishop Hoban (Akron, Ohio), but it was win, win, win the rest of the tournament as the Lady Patriots rolled over two Ohio teams – Buckeye Valley and Lakewood – then closed with a win over Cambridge Springs of Pennsylvania.
Lincoln, led by coach Heather Hasty, crushed Buckeye Valley 14-4 in round two of the tourney then pummeled Lakewood 17-2 in five innings in round three.
Double-digit run totals would be the norm for Lincoln in its last three games, as they closed the tourney with a 13-6 victory over Cambridge Springs.
The Lady Patriots play at Garrard County today (Thursday) and will be at Casey County on Monday. Start time is 6 p.m. both games.
