Applications available for snow parade contests
Applications are now available for the annual Snow Princess, Countess and Duchess contests. Interviews will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. Applications are available downtown Stanford at the PVA office, Morgan’s on Main, the Mad Batter, and on the internet at lincolncountychamber.com., For questions, please call the Chamber at (606) 365-4118.
Logan-Whitley DAR to meet
Logan-Whitley DAR Chapter will meet Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 5:30 p.m. (arrive before 5:30 p.m. and order your supper) at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant, 119 Metker Trail. The program will be American Indians with State Chair Melanie Hunt, as speaker. The Governor James Garrard, Lancaster, will be joining us.
Veterans Day Celebration
All veterans are invited to a special service and dinner on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Crossroads Assembly of God, Brodhead. Ralph Reynolds, interim pastor. All veterans and families are welcome.
Veterans Appreciation Day
The 11th annual Veterans Appreciation Day will be held Monday, Nov. 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Danville National Guard Armory to honor all veterans from Boyle, Garrard, Lincoln and Mercer counties. Fish and barbecue dinners will be served and there will be drawings for door prizes. A shuttle bus will be run from Danville Stadium. For more information, call (859) 236-2425.
LC Health Department closed for Veteran’s Day
The Lincoln County Health Department will be closed Monday, Nov. 12 in observance of the Veterans Day holiday.
Democratic Woman’s Club to meet
The Democratic Woman’s Club will meet Thursday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. The speaker will be Regina Carney, U. S. Navy, retired. Non-perishable food items are requested for Fort Logan Ministries. All ladies are invited to attend.
Logan’s Fort Foundation Bean Luncheon
Logan’s Fort Foundation will hold a Bean Luncheon on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the Stanford Christian Church. Cost is $7. Lunch will include beans, cornbread, homemade dessert and drink. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any board member.
LC Retired Teachers to meet
Lincoln County Retired Teachers will meet Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 11:30 a.m. at the Kentucky Depot Restaurant. All retired teachers are encouraged to hear KRTA Membership Chair Debbie Murrell. There will also be musical entertainment. Please bring non-perishable items for Fort Logan Ministries and school supplies if you did not get them to the October meeting.
Wilderness Trace Chapter to meet
Wilderness Trace Chapter of Kentuckians for the Commonwealth will meet Monday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. at Inter-County Energy Community Room, 1009 Hustonville Rd., (enter on left side of the building). Please note date change from the first Monday of the month. It is a great time to plan local work, discuss local and statewide work, meet new people, and much more. Everyone that shares our values and common vision is welcome and invited to attend!
Constellations
Exploration Station: Constellations will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lincoln County Public Library. Bring the entire family to use 3-D Pens and various other materials to make constellations of your choice. A review on the use and check-out policy of our telescope will be available upon request.

The Lincoln County Board of Health will have its regularly scheduled Board of Health meeting Tuesday, Nov. 13 at 12:30 p.m. in the conference room at the Lincoln County Health Department, 44 Health Way, Stanford.
2018 Home Canning Series

Big Blue Crush blood drive
It’s time to find out who has the best fans – Kentucky or Tennessee in the 31st annual Big Blue Crush. As a thank you for saving a life, Kentucky donors will receive a tie-dyed Bleed Blue T-shirt and a chance to win tickets to the Kentucky-Louisville football game on Nov. 24 in Louisville. Big Blue fans can give blood during Big Blue Crush on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship room at the Stanford Presbyterian Church, 213 East Main. Under the Stars
Logan’s Fort “Under the Stars”: A Stargazing event will be held Saturday, Nov. 17 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Logan’s Fort Park (end of Martin Luther King Street). Open to all interest levels: beginner to expert. You are welcome to bring your own telescope/binoculars; the Library will provide some telescopes. Dress for the weather. Bring a chair or blanket and flashlight (red filters will be provided by the library). Please arrive promptly to avoid light pollution from car headlights. No pets please.
