Lincoln boys, girls advance in region tournaments

The semifinals of the Boys 12th Region Basketball Tournament is now set and one night of the Girls 12th Region Tournament is complete.
And Lincoln County is still alive in both.
The Patriots defeated Mercer County 56-46 Tuesday night to earn themselves a spot in Friday night’s semifinals nightcap at 8 p.m. Lincoln will battle Wayne County for a spot in the finals. The Cardinals advanced with a 69-62 win over Somerset.
Friday’s first game will feature Danville and Pulaski County at 6:30 p.m. Danville beat West Jessamine 57-54 to advance while Pulaski rolled 60-38 over McCreary Central.
The Lincoln County Lady Patriots began their run for a regional title in a 67-38 rout of East Jessamine Wednesday. They will now play Southwestern, a 68-34 winner over Pulaski County. Tipoff for Sunday’s semifinal game is 2:30 p.m.
Who will face off in Sunday’s second game at 4 p.m. is yet to be determined, with the second night of first-round action set for tonight (Thursday).
Casey County, the 47th District champion, will face Wayne County, the 48th District runner-up, at 6:30 p.m. The Lady Rebels of Casey are 23-8. The Lady Cardinals are 21-10.
In the late game at 8 p.m., Mercer County (20-10) will battle Danville (23-6). The Titans are champions of the 46th District and the Lady Admirals are the 45th District runners-up.
