LC Parks & Recreation Board to meet
Lincoln County Parks & Recreation Board of Directors will have a special meeting on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 6 p.m.
LC Retired Teachers to meet
Lincoln County Retired Teachers will meet with a potluck meal on Tuesday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at the Lincoln County Senior Citizens Center. Larry Woods, KRTA legislative co-chair will speak on the latest legislative updates on pensions and other bills concerning education. All retired educators are encouraged to attend.
Gibson to speak during International Event Day
Kayla Gibson will be the featured speaker at the International Event Day on Wednesday, March 27, at noon at the Lincoln County Extension Office, 104 Metker Trail. Come and learn about the culture and people living in Liechtenstein as Gibson shares her knowledge of the European principality. Learn where Liechtenstein is located, what food the people eat and much more. Gibson will also be sharing many photographs taken while in Liechtenstein. The event is open to the public and the cost is $5 per person. All proceeds will benefit the Backpack Program in Lincoln County. RSVP by calling the Lincoln County Extension Office at (606) 365-2447.
Heritage BPW to meet
Heritage Business and Professional Women will meet Monday, March 18 at McKinney Conference Center at 5:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending or becoming a member can get more information by calling (859) 749-2247.
2019 Youth Baseball/Girls Softball/T-Ball/Wee Ball registration
2019 Youth Baseball/Girls Softball/T-Ball/Wee Ball registration is being held March 11-29 at the Park Office, Monday-Friday 1-4 p.m. (drop box available after hours/weekends) or online at lincolncountyparks.org. Ages 4-12 (child must be four years old by April 30 to participate). Baseball/T-Ball/Wee Ball: $65; Girls Softball: $60.
Medicare Made Clear
Medicare Made Clear: Thursday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. The Lincoln County Public Library will host Richard Manarchy’s presentation of “Medicare Made Clear”. This is an interactive educational seminar covering Medicare basics. At the end of the presentation you will have an understanding of Medicare Parts A B C and D, who is eligible, coverage options, enrollment times, and what to do next. In addition, Richard will discuss once you are covered by Medicare how you can save money, lastly where to find more information. Please call the library at (606) 365-7513 to register.
Clothing demonstration
What did my Ancestors Wear will be presented on Saturday, March 20 at 1 p.m. Jeanette Hillard, 18th Century Clothier, and her husband, Archie, will be demonstrating the clothing types worn by settlers around the time of the Siege at Logan’s Fort. She has been making period clothing for reenactors for 20 years. She will have examples of both men’s and women’s period clothing and plenty of time will be allowed for questions.
Nature’s Thyme Herb Group to meet
Nature’s Thyme Herb Group will meet at the Garrard County Extension office on Thursday, March 14 at 7 p.m. Kristina Beaman will be showing how to make Herbal Finishing Salts and Flavored Sugars. There will be several take home samples for ONLY those who reserve their seat. Please contact the Extension Office at (859) 792-3026 to reserve your seat and ensure we have enough samples for everyone. Light refreshments will be provided. Dues paying members are FREE and non-members are $5 payable at the meeting.
Health Department closing early for staff meeting
The Lincoln County Health Department will be closing on Wednesday, March 20 at 3:30 p.m. for a staff meeting.
LC Early Childhood Registration
Lincoln County Early Childhood registration (preschool/head start/early head start) will be held in April. Child must be birth to four years old on/or before August, 1, 2018. Schedule appointments now by calling (606) 365-9371. Registration will be held at the Stanford Early Childhood Center connected to Stanford Elementary (enter through Early Childhood Center doors). You must bring the following: 1) child you are enrolling, 2) copy of the child’s certified birth certificate (not the hospital birth record). If you do not have this, bring $10 check or $11 cash to order a Kentucky Birth Certificate, 3) Income verification (tax return, check stub, W2, etc.), 4) social security card of child being enrolled (optional).
Stanford City Wide Spring Clean-Up
Stanford City Wide Spring Clean-Up will be held March 25-April 5 and will end with a Main Street Clean-Up coordinated by East Ky Pride/Bluegrass Green Source on Saturday, April 6. This service will be provided for those who reside within the city limits of Stanford. For more information or to volunteer, please contact City Hall at (606) 365-4500.
Trivia Night
The Lincoln County 4-H is holding a Trivia Night on Friday, March 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Cost is $10 per person. There will be 10 themed rounds of 10 questions each. Themes will cover current events, Bible stories, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and more. Teams can have up to eight people. Win a variety of prizes. Register by calling (606) 365-2447 or visiting bit.ly/4HTriviaNight. Pay by cash, check or card at the door. All proceeds benefit the Lincoln County 4-H Dominican Republic Service project.
Nominations are being accepted for annual Chamber awards
The annual Chamber Banquet and Awards Program will be held Tuesday, April 16. Nominations are now being accepted for Citizen for the Year, Healthcare Worker of the Year, Business of the Year and Big Apple. Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meetings
The Cedar Creek Sportsman Club meets every third Tuesday of the month with a meeting and meal. Membership is $60/year. Anyone wanting to rent building, please contact Phyllis Adams at (606) 355-0276.
Girls Who Code Clubs
Girls Who Code Club for grades 3-5 and 6-12 meet at Lincoln County Public Library. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 19.
