Yarn, Hook & Needles Group
Do you enjoy crafting with yarn, crochet hooks and/or knitting needles? Have interest or want to learn. This free group is for you. The group will meet Monday, April 1 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension office. For more information, Call (606) 365-2447.
LC Historical Society to meet
The Lincoln County Historical Society will meet Tuesday, April 2 at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library, second floor. Guest speaker will be Ken Hill, re-enactment coordinator for the Siege of 1777 at Logans Fort 2019. He will be speaking on the Siege in May 2019 and preparation that goes into becoming an re-enactor. Light refreshments will be served. The board meeting will be at 6 p.m. in Community Room 2, upstairs.
Living with diabetes?
A diabetes self-management education and support class will be held Thursday, April 4 and 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension office. You must register by calling (606) 365-2447 and attend both sessions. Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Instructors are Julie Steber, RD, LD, CDE, MLDE and Rita Stewart, County Extension Agent.
4-H Stem Squad
4-H Stem Squad will meet Monday, March 25 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension office. Learn science, technology, engineering and math skills. This is free for Lincoln and Boyle County youth in 5th-12th grade. For more information, call (606) 365-2447.
4-H Summer Camp
Register now for 4-H Summer Camp which is set for July 8-12 at the J. M. Feltner Camp in London. The theme for the week is Jungle Safari. Cost is $250 and includes lodging, meals, snacks, t-shirt, activities and class fees. Early bird deadline is March 29 (receive a limited edition 4-H T-shirt); final deadline is June 3. Breakfast and shopping with the Easter bunny
Plan to have breakfast and shop with the Easter bunny on Saturday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lincoln County Extension office, 104 Metker Trail. Tickets are $5 and includes pancakes, sausage, drink and a photo with the Easter bunny (children under three eat free with paying adult). Baby chicks and bunnies will be available from the 4-H Clubs. Be Safe, Be Well
A Be Safe, Be Well event will be held Thursday, March 28 from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Boyle County Extension office, 99 Corporate Drive, Danville. 9:30 a.m. registration and refreshments. Registration required, call (859) 873-4601 or email elizabeth.coots@uky.edu. Event includes: identify and recognize emergencies, make appropriate first aid care decisions, learn skills needed to provide immediate care for the ill/injured, understand basics of a first aid kit, learn about new items on the market, FREE first aid kit to all who pre-register and door prize opportunities.
Focus on Family
Focus on the family preventing, treating and recovering from addiction as a family will be presented by Alex Elswick, M.S., Extension Associate for Family and Resource Management. The session will be held Thursday, April 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lincoln County Extension office. Addiction is a family disease. As such, families play a role in preventing loved ones from getting addicted, treating a loved one’s addiction, and supporting loved ones in recovery. This session focuses not only on the role of the family in prevention, treatment and recovery, but also on the RECOVERY of the family unit as a whole. Kindergarten registration for Lincoln County Schools
Attention parents: It is time for kindergarten registration in Lincoln County. Stop by your school between Monday, March 18 through Friday, March 29 to pick up registration information and to schedule an appointment. If your child is currently enrolled in preschool they will not need to register.
LC Parks & Recreation Board to meet
Lincoln County Parks & Recreation Board of Directors will have a special meeting on Monday, March 25, 2019 at 6 p.m.
Gibson to speak during International Event Day
Kayla Gibson will be the featured speaker at the International Event Day on Wednesday, March 27, at noon at the Lincoln County Extension Office. Come and learn about the culture and people living in Liechtenstein as Gibson shares her knowledge of the European principality. Learn where Liechtenstein is located, what food the people eat and much more. Gibson will also be sharing many photographs taken while in Liechtenstein. The event is open to the public and the cost is $5 per person. All proceeds benefit the LC Backpack Program. RSVP by calling the Extension Office at (606) 365-2447.
2019 Youth Baseball/Girls Softball/T-Ball/Wee Ball registration
2019 Youth Baseball/Girls Softball/T-Ball/Wee Ball registration is being held March 11-29 at the Park Office, Monday-Friday 1-4 p.m. (drop box available after hours/weekends) or online at lincolncountyparks.org. Ages 4-12 (child must be four years old by April 30 to participate). Baseball/T-Ball/Wee Ball: $65; Girls Softball: $60.
Clothing demonstration
What did my Ancestors Wear will be presented on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. Jeanette Hillard, 18th Century Clothier, and her husband, Archie, will be demonstrating the clothing types worn by settlers around the time of the Siege at Logan’s Fort. She has been making period clothing for re-enactors for 20 years. She will have examples of both men’s and women’s period clothing and plenty of time will be allowed for questions.
Stanford City Wide Spring Clean-Up
Stanford City Wide Spring Clean-Up will be held March 25-April 5 and will end with a Main Street Clean-Up coordinated by East Ky Pride/Bluegrass Green Source on Saturday, April 6. This service will be provided for those who reside within the city limits of Stanford. For more information or to volunteer, please contact City Hall at (606) 365-4500.

Exploration Station: Sun Safety
The Lincoln County Public Library will host Exploration Station: Sun Safety on Tuesday, April 9. Stop by the Makerspace any time between 5 and 7 p.m.. Kids and teens will learn about safety in the sun. The importance of sunglasses, sunscreen, clothing will all be discussed. The science of UV beads will be discussed and demonstrated. Good Grief Support Group
The Good Grief Plus More Support Group will meet Thursday, March 28 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library.
