Crab Orchard announces Science Fair winners

Crab Orchard Elementary School held its fifth grade Science Fair on Thursday, April 25, with students displaying the hard work they had put in on their projects.
Science Fair judges commended the students on their projects and how they tried to prove their hypothesis.
Community members, Justin Poynter, PBK Bank; Sharon Combs, Casey County Bank; KT Spurlin, Lincoln County Retired teacher; Wanda Braley, Lincoln County Retired teacher; Chasity Frith, FLH; and Courtney Brock, Lincoln County Extension Office, took time from their work schedules to help out with the judging.
The school staff expressed it appreciation to the judges for donating their time, saying “We couldn’t do what we do without the support of our community.”
There were three winners selected in the divisions of Life Science, Physical Science and Earth Science and an overall high scorer was recognized.
Those winners were:
Life Science: Layla Smith, first place; Jayden McAdoo, second place; Olivia Perez, third place.
Earth Science: Shelby Howard, first place; Beverlee Mullins, second place; Jensc Shackelford, third place.
Physical Science: McKenzie Shelton, first place; Sarah Turner, second place, Sam Baldwin, third place.
Overall Highest Score: Layla Smith.
