Student charged for threat at LCMS

STANFORD, KY — Lincoln County School Resource Officers received information Wednesday night regarding a potential threat to Lincoln County Middle School.
SRO Preston Middleton investigated the alleged threat overnight leading to an LCMS student being charged while in custody.
The investigation is ongoing, however, LCMS has been deemed safe to carry on normal daily activities by the Stanford Police Department. Safeguards have been put in place to increase security throughout the day on the campus and extra patrol will be given at LCMS throughout the day.
“All allegations of threats are investigated to their fullest extent,” said Middleton. “The appropriate course of action will always be taken, whether it’s criminal charges or school discipline. We can assure you any threat will be taken seriously.”
LCMS Principal Stacy Story said the threat, the second this month at the school, and all threats are taken seriously by the school district.
“We handle all allegations with extreme seriousness to ensure the safety of our students and staff,” she said. “When we get information or a concern to our attention, we immediately act on it and work with SROs to respond appropriately. We ask all stakeholders to trust us and rest assured that if there was a need for students to be released, we will notify parents immediately. If you don’t get that notification, you can trust staff and students are safe. We feel like transparency is key in building trust, and your trust in our staff is our ultimate goal regarding school safety. “
All stakeholders will be notified if more information becomes available.
