Lincoln Co. Schools Press Release
STANFORD — Lincoln County Schools will be closed today (Thursday), Feb. 6 and Friday, Feb. 7 due to sickness.
The decline in attendance among students, staff and substitutes in recent days prompted the cancellation.
“Attendance has not dropped off to a super alarming number. We have hovered around 89-90% these past few days, but we are not seeing the vast improvement we’d like to see,” Lincoln County Schools Superintendent Mike Rowe said. “We’d like to see that number back to 95%, and the way this widespread sickness is spreading, we felt it was best to cancel classes and give everyone a break to get better.”
“It was a difficult decision to cancel classes for two days, but our plan is to thoroughly clean our buildings and buses during these days off to help prevent the spread of germs.”
Thursday and Friday will be Non-Traditional Instruction Days (Patriot Day 3 and 4) for students and staff.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to use these days off to wash backpacks, coats and personal belongings to help prevent the spreading of germs and sickness.
Lincoln County schools will reopen on Monday, Feb. 10.
