Ray Tackett, husband of Nancy Soard Tackett, departed this life peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2020, at his home in Lexington, with family by his side, having attained the age of 75 years. He was born July 23, 1945, in Rockhouse, Kentucky, the son of the late Hatler and Maudie Fleming Tackett, attended Whitesburg High School, was a horseman, and employee of Rand-McNally. In his spare time, he loved spending time in his garden, fishing, U.K. basketball, was an avid sports fan, and a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church in Lexington, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Verlie, Goldie, Maxine, Dorothy, Frank, and Gene.
Besides his wife Nancy, he is survived by two sons, David L. Tackett and daughter-in-law Carla Loveless-Tackett, Anthony Tackett; three grandchildren, Elizabeth (Josh) Michael, Jourdan Loveless-Tackett, Zann Tackett; four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Grayson, and Henry Michael, and Alexandria Tackett-Rodgers. Also surviving is a brother, Lacey (Connie) Tackett; and a mother-in-law, Kathleen Voils.
The funeral service for Ray Tackett will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2020, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home, with Father Larry Hehman officiating. Interment will follow in Paris cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12 noon until time for the service.
