The city of Stanford has been voted “wet” by a count of 1006 to 624.
That’s how voters responded to the question, “Are you in favor of the sale of alcoholic beverages in the City of Stanford, Kentucky?”
Voters in Stanford precincts A101, A102, and A103 voted on the alcohol question.
Over 300 signatures were turned into the Lincoln County Clerk’s Office on the petition to put the question on this year’s ballot. Several attempts to bring alcohol sales to Stanford have been started in the last two years, but none have made it to the ballot until now.
The last local option election in Stanford was in 2009 when “dry” voters prevailed and prohibition was sustained. The last local option election in Lincoln County was in 2018 when Crab Orchard voters also voted down alcohol sales.
