Marlene Patterson Reed, 87, passed away on Jan. 17, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in Danville, KY on May 29, 1934, daughter of the late Ira and Clara Patterson. She is survived by her husband of 68 yrs., Marvin L. Reed; two children, Melinda (Tom) Jones and Mark (Melissa) Reed; grandchildren, Samuel Jones (Mikayla), Matthew Jones, Benjamin Reed, and Rachel O’brien (Kyle); and a sister, Elaine Young (Skip) of Louisville, KY. She was preceded in death by a son, Martin Lewis Reed, and a brother William Ronald “Ronnie” Patterson (Aggie). Marlene’s spent her childhood and grew up in Kings Mt., KY where her parents ran the Patterson Bros. General Store before moving to Stanford, KY. She graduated from Stanford High School. She then attended Tenn Tech Univ before moving to Lexington in 1956. She had a wonderful time raising her family before accepting a job with Dawahare’s where she worked for over 30 years as a receptionist and switchboard operator at their Gardenside location. She loved the Lord and Gardenside Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and a member of the choir, Sweet Harmony, Young at Heart, and was especially blessed to be a part of the Lexington Passion Play. She also enjoyed being with her family, working in the garden, cooking, her “Westies”, the Kentucky Wildcats, traveling, and vacationing in Myrtle Beach with her family. Visitation will be on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, from 10 am to 12 pm with service at 12 pm, Milward-Southland. Burial will be at Buffalo Springs Cemetery in Stanford, KY. www.milwardfuneral.com
