Car shows dot local calendar in September

For those who love cars ranging from classic American muscle to exotics, the inaugural Cars and Coffee event is the place to be. The first of three car events this month in the area will be held on Saturday at Centenary United Methodist Church in Danville from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event is family friendly and all car, truck and motorcycle owners are welcome to come and show off their rides. Burnouts, racing and any other forms of reckless driving are prohibited. The event organizers would also like to remind all attendees that they are going to be on private property and to be respectful. The church is located at 1441 Perryville Road in Danville.

If you love classics, be sure to check out the 4th annual Classic Car Cruise In at Morning Pointe. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 16.  There will be food, inflatables, live music and of course plenty of classic cars on display. Morning Pointe is located at 1375 Perryville Road in Danville.

Junction City’s Ponderossa Speedway also is having its first ever demolition derby on Sept. 16. There will be fur derbies, contests for big and small cars, youth derby and a bonus power wheels. The event begins at 7 p.m. Grandstand tickets are available for $20 and pit tickets are $25.  Admission is free for children under age 10. There is a $50 entry fee for the derby. The speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane in Junction City.
