Coach Robbie Lucas, 50, of Stanford, KY passed away at his home on Sunday, November 13, 2022. Born on October 7, 1972, in Garrard County to Charlie and Ruth Lucas. Coach Lucas enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his daughters dearly. He was a genuine, honest and straightforward person who was loved by many.
Coach Lucas was the Head Coach of Somerset High School Football Team for the last 14 years and was a part of the football program for over 20 years. He led the Somerset Briar Jumpers to their only Class 2A State Championship in 2019. His mantra, “Long Live the Brotherhood”, was focused on taking care of your brothers, both on and off the field. He loved all his players and considered them all his boys.
When he wasn’t coaching football, Robbie was an avid hunter especially enjoyed turkey hunting.He was a fan of all sports, but especially loved watching the Kentucky Wildcats and Pittsburg Steelers.
Survivors include his wife, Nicole Lucas; two daughters, Madalyn Lucas and Mollie Lucas; parents, Charlie and Ruth Lucas of Stanford, KY; beloved grandmother, Helen Durbin; one brother, Eugene Lucas (Lilia) of Houston, TX; one sister, Jennifer Lucas of Nicholasville, KY; six nieces and nephews, Romeo Lucas, Liliana Lucas, Marco Lucas, Derek Gajados, Alex Faltinowski (Caleb) and Zachery Gajados; and two God-children, Kalissa Sheron and Kaiya Sheron.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles W. and Marie Berry Lucas; maternal grandfather, Charles B. Durbin; two great-aunts, Dorothy Rhodus and Lena Rhodus; and father-in-law, William “Bill” Drake, Jr.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Stanford, KY. A second visitation will be on Monday, November 21, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Bro. Johnny Thompson and Bro. Ryan Tucker officiating.
