NEWS RELEASE
Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) is pleased to recognize and honor one of its nurses for her extraordinary patient care. Maly Hundley, R.N., a nurse in Labor & Delivery at EMRMC, was one of many nurses nominated for the DAISY Award. A resident of Boyle County, Maly has been caring for patients at EMRMC for eight years.
She was nominated by a patient that said, “I came into the hospital to get checked out due to having contractions. Maly checked me and I was 7 cm. To say I was scared was an understatement. My epidural did not work and I was in the worst pain of my life. I honestly thought I was going to die. Maly never left my side. She knew how serious the situation was, even when my baby’s heartbeat dropped off slightly due to her umbilical cord wrapping around her neck, but she kept me calm and focused. Childbirth is one of the most dangerous things we face as women and I am very grateful to have had her by me coaching me through it. Two hours after arrival, we had a healthy baby girl.”
Ephraim McDowell is proud to recognize nurses with the DAISY Award, a national program which honors the compassionate care and clinical excellence that nurses bring to their patients every day. Nomination forms for the DAISY Award are available at various locations throughout Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital, Ephraim McDowell James B. Haggin Hospital and other Ephraim McDowell facilities.
