Vernon Talmadge Norris, Jr., 79, of Lexington passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2023. Born in Stanford on September 17, 1944, he was the son of the late Vernon Talmadge and Georgia Pauline Southerlan Norris. Vernon was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family. Vernon grew up and was baptized at Mount Salem Baptist Church and was a member of First Christian Church in Lexington. He retired from IBM after 25 years and managed The Pallet Factory for 17 years. Vernon is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dotty Jo Milbern Norris; sons: Vernon Talmadge (Dee) Norris III of Winchester and Joda Milbern (Annhall) Norris of Danville; sister, Melinda (Danny) Douglas of Hustonville; brothers: George (Jan) Norris of Louisa, Gregory (Jeannie) Norris of Lexington, and Jerry Norris of Hustonville; grandchildren: Sabree Norris and Edward Riley Norris. Visitation is 12:00 PM- 2:00 PM, Friday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Joe Cooper and Rev. Greg Herriford officiating. Burial will follow at Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edward Riley Norris, Kelly Norris, Jerry Norris, Joel Milbern, Lee Browning, and Christopher Browning.
