Crab Orchard Elementary wins Governor’s Cup

Academic teams from across the district competed Saturday at the Governor’s Cup, with Crab Orchard Elementary taking home first place.
The Governor’s Cup was an all day event held at Stanford Elementary, featuring teams from Stanford, Crab Orchard, Waynesburg, Highland and Hustonville.
Crab Orchard won first place overall and first place in the Quick Recall event. Hustonville placed second overall and second in Quick Recall.
Hustonville placed first in Future Problem Solving and Waynesburg won second place.
Stanford Elementary received the Hume Award.
Other winners included:
- Composition: Sadie Merrick (1st place); MollyKate Parker (2nd place); Easton Witte (3rd place); Kaley McCowan (4th place); and Grace Shields (5th place)
- Arts and Humanities: Ellana Cable (1st place); Tytus Schaiper (2nd place); Natalie Yocum (3rd place); MollyKate Parker (4th place); and Macy New (5th place)
- Language Arts: Sadie Merrick (1st place); Blake Rogers (2nd place); Madelyn Schuler (3rd place); James-David Gay (4th place) and Holly Carberry (5th place)
- Social Studies: Easton Witte (1st place); Maxwell Cooper (2nd place); Andrew Clontz (3rd place); Andrew Carrier (4th place) and Logan Wright (5th place)
- Science: Andrew Carrier (1st place); Levi Clontz (2nd place); Maxwell Cooper (3rd place); Noah Johnson (4th place); Mason Farley and Emma Irvin (tied for 5th place)
• Mathematics: Simon Lin (first place); Mason Farley (2nd place); Avery Sneed (3rd place); Aemon Roberts (4th place) and Kally McCowan (5th place).
