The Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association 2024 Hall of Fame inductee for Region 5 is Jack Blair of Lincoln County.

Blair has a passion for working with cattle and helping his community. Throughout his 50-year career as a cattleman, he has served multiple positions in the KCA including treasurer and president. He is also known to many in Lincoln County for his time as an agricultural teacher and principal at Lincoln County Schools.

“The Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association Hall of Fame is designed to honor a member of the organization who has given time, service, and talent to the betterment of the association,” said the KCA in a press release. “Blair has been an integral piece of the Lincoln County Cattlemen’s Association for over five decades. His passion and willingness to donate his time make him a leader within his association, community, and state. We are thankful for Mr. Blair’s leadership and dedication to the industry and thrilled to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame.”

Blair has worked around cattle since childhood and has always had a passion for livestock.

“I grew up on a farm,” Blair said. “When I worked for the school, I always had a little farm on the side. I love working outside and especially working with animals. I always loved being involved with them.”

He is the third person from Lincoln County to be inducted into the KCA Hall of Fame.

“Lincoln was instrumental in getting the Cattlemen’s Association started,” Blair said. “I was honored to be inducted. I didn’t even know I was nominated. We were at the extension office cooking, getting ready for something. The current president of Lincoln’s KCA, Jason Elliot, announced that he got word that I would be inducted into the hall of fame.”

Blair is grateful for the honor of being placed into the Hall of Fame and thanks the community for helping him earn the award.

“It is not just about me,” Blair said. “I have always had the best people to work within the school system, especially the cattlemen’s association. They are all volunteers. Everyone pitches in when they are needed.  A lot of the people I worked with years ago have gone on but we are always getting new people coming on. It is a great group of people that I enjoy working with.”
