The city of Stanford will celebrate its 250th anniversary with the 8th Annual Reenactment of the 1777 Siege of Logan’s Fort, scheduled for May 16–18, 2025. Hosted at the historic site at the end of Martin Luther King Street, the event will blend historical education with live demonstrations, family activities and community pride.
Admission is free on Friday and Sunday, with a $5 charge on Saturday. Children 12 and under receive free admission. Proceeds from the event will fund future programming at the fort.
Weekend Schedule
The event kicks off Friday, May 16, with school group visits from 10 a.m. to noon. Reenactors and volunteers are invited to a picnic at the Scottie Ernst Memorial Picnic Area from 5 to 6:45 p.m. At 7 p.m., a special presentation will take place under the tent at the fort, where Marion Cooper will portray Mary Logan Smith, daughter of frontiersman Benjamin Logan, reading her historical letters.
Saturday’s schedule includes educational and commemorative activities beginning at 10 a.m. with a presentation on Native American food and gardening by Tressa Brown of the Kentucky Heritage Council. At 11 a.m., a rededication ceremony of the Logan’s Fort monument will be led by the St. Asaph Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The main event, the reenactment of the 1777 siege, will begin at 2 p.m. in front of the fort. Leading up to it, a group photo and weapons inspection will take place at 1:30 p.m. The day will conclude with a public auction at 6:30 p.m. under the tent.
On Sunday, May 18, the park reopens to the public at 10 a.m. A traditional 18th-century church service led by Don and Esther Drewry will be held at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
