Bro. John Milton Harness, Jr., 69, of Crab Orchard, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.
Born November 10, 1949, in Stanford, John was a son of the late Margie Marie (Denny) and John Milton Harness, Sr. He had formerly worked for Ephraim McDowell and the Garrard County Hospital in Environmental Services. John was a graduate of the Anderson University with a degree in Theology. He was a member and a former minister of the Church of God. Pastorates include West Side First Church of God in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Maxey’s Valley First Church of God, Hustonville and Singletontown First Church of God, Eubank.
Survivors include his three daughters, Julie Ann Dickey, Mindy Harness, and Ashley and husband Bryan Dunaway; brother, Dr. J. Harold Harness and his wife Virginia; sister, Betty and her husband Charlie Blankenship; grandchildren, Kristin and Samantha Dickey and John Malcom Dunaway; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Gail Harness; and two sisters, Deborah Brown and Donna Burdine.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 23, at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel in Crab Orchard with Bro. Tom Denney officiating. Burial was in the Providence Church of Christ Cemetery.
Visitation was on Thursday at McKnight Funeral Home Chapel.
