Patriot Hall of Fame inducts four to Class of 2019

STANFORD — The Lincoln County Patriot Club recognized its latest class of Hall of Fame Inductees last Friday during an induction ceremony at the Lincoln County High School.
The 2019 Hall of Fame Class, the sixth class to be inducted since the club’s inception, includes Rodney Bates, Robert “Bobby” Camenisch, Jeffrey Jackson and Sheila Underwood.
The new Hall of Fame inductees were honored during a special ceremony at the Lincoln County High School library prior to the Lincoln-Boyle Basketball Double Header. The four were then introduced to the public during a recognition ceremony between the girls and boys basketball games.
A brief bio on each of the inductees follows:
ROD BATES
Rod Bates moved to the Lincoln County community in 1972 to start a medical practice in Stanford. Currently, Dr. Bates is the longest standing physician to serve the medical needs of the community. He has been a long standing supporter of LCHS and the LCHS athletic program by providing health and medical services to countless student-athletes.
His commitment to providing KHSAA required physical exams to athletes in an affordable manner has been exceptional. The services offered by Dr. Bates to our community has provided opportunities for students who might otherwise have missed out.
JEFF JACKSON
Jeff Jackson came to Lincoln County in 2003 to serve as teacher and head basketball coach at LCHS. Currently, he has accumulated a record of 282-182 and is the winningest basketball coach in school history.
During his tenure, his teams have won two regional titles and seven district championships. Additionally, his mentorship has enabled numerous players to successfully play at the collegiate level.
Coach Jackson’s dedication and commitment has positively impacted the lives of numerous student-athletes across the state.
SHEILA UNDERWOOD
Sheila Underwood served as a Lincoln County educator from 1974-2004 in the elementary grade level setting.
During her 30 years as a classroom teacher, Underwood also served as a teacher mentor and assisted with the production of 30 high school musicals.
She was named to the Kentucky Distinguished Young Women Hall of Fame and continues to serve this organization at the local and state level. Her commitment to the DYW program has led to numerous LCHS students receiving thousands of scholarship dollars to pursue post-secondary education.
BOB CAMENISCH
Bob Camenisch taught agriculture to high school students in Lincoln County from 1973 to 2002.
During his tenure, Camenisch served as the Future Farmers of America (FFA) advisor and led several individual students and student teams to win state level competitions and championships.
Camenisch has received numerous professional awards and recognition for his work with students, the local Farm Bureau chapter, Odyssey of the Mind and 4-H.
His dedication to Lincoln County, along with his passion for agriculture, has positively impacted both the community and the lives of Lincoln County students and their families.
