The Lincoln County Middle School Eagles basketball teams followed up an undefeated opening week with an equally impressive week two run of 8-1.
Lincoln swept both East Jessamine and Garrard County 3-0 at home and just missed claiming a third sweep at Boyle County.

East Jess. at Lincoln
6th Grade
Lincoln 52, East 32
The Lincoln County sixth-grade boys exploded out to an 18-4 first-quarter lead and never looked back, rolling over visiting East Jessamine 52-32.
East did outscore Lincoln in the second quarter, 12-10, to make it a 28-16 margin at the half. However, the Eagles burned the nets for 15 points in the third quarter while holding East to just five points as they opened up a 43-21 advantage and the lead was never threatened.
Layne Lark and Jansen McAninch led the Eagles with eight points apiece, Tramane Alcorn had seven points with five assists and five steals, Colton Ralston and Jalen Smith both had seven, Jackson Sims added five, Zane Mullins got four and Xzavion Grey and Zack Moore each had three. Moore also had four steals.
7th Grade
Lincoln 67, East 37
Jaxon Smith had a game-high 24 points and six rebounds to lead the seventh-grade Lincoln County boys in a 67-37 cruise over East Jessamine.
Lincoln used consistent double-digit scoring to put away East, opening with a 14-6 advantage. The Eagles outscored the visitors 17-14 in the second quarter to post a 31-20 halftime lead, poured in 21 points to East’s seven in the third for a 52-27 lead then closed with a 15-10 run.
Clayton Davis scored seven points and had three assists in the win, Cruise Wilson had six points with four steals, Landon McQueen had six points, Lawson Hon followed with five, Ryan York, Tramane Alcorn and Layne Lark each had four, Colin Green had three, and Lee Amon and Colton Ralston each had two.
8th Grade
Lincoln 48, East 24
Rodney Alcorn and Baylor Mattingly combined for 22 points and nine rebounds in Lincoln County’s 48-24 win over East Jessamine in the eighth-grade matchup.
Alcorn paced Lincoln in the win with 12 points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Baylor Mattingly tallied 10 points.
Lincoln jumped on East 14-2 in the first quarter and spent the rest of the game cushioning its lead. The Eagles posted a 30-8 halftime lead then outscored East 18-16 after the break.
Preston Barnes, Blaise Brown, Jaxon Smith and Michael Henderson all finished with six points and Bryson Young had two.
Lincoln at Boyle
6th Grade
Lincoln 49, Boyle 45
Lincoln County had to rally from a first-half deficit to claim its 49-45 win over host Boyle County in sixth-grade basketball action.
The Lincoln Eagles trailed 11-6 in the first and were down 22-15 at the half, but they came out with a hot hand in the third quarter, outscoring Boyle 20-8 to surge ahead 35-30.
Boyle reclaimed the scoring advantage in the final frame but it wouldn’t be enough to earn the win.
Two Eagles reached double figures in the win with Tramane Alcorn pouring in 24 points and grabbing eight boards and Zack Moore following with 12 points.
Layne Lark had eight points and six rebounds, Jackson Sims got four points and Jansen McAninch had one point and four assists.
7th Grade
Boyle 41, Lincoln 40
Lincoln’s Jaxon Smith and Colin Green combined for 29 points but it wouldn’t be enough as the host Boyle Eagles defeated the seventh-grade Eagles 41-40.
Smith led all scorers with 19 points and 11 rebounds and Green swished in 10 points with four assists.
Play was close throughout the first half, with Lincoln holding the lead at the end of the first two periods. The Eagles opened on a 17-10 run and the margin remained at seven at the break, 25-18.
A third-quarter scoring surge by Boyle nearly erased the Lincoln lead, as the hosts outscored Lincoln 14-8 to get within 33-32.
Boyle would post its only quarterstop lead at the final horn, as the host Eagles drained a 3-point shot at the buzzer to nose out the 41-40 win.
Clayton Davis added four points for Lincoln, Lee Amon had three points and Cruise Wilson and Ryan York both had two points.
8th Grade
Lincoln 58, Boyle 42
Lincoln took control early in eighth-grade hoops action at Boyle County, dominating the first two quarters to set the Eagles up for a 58-42 win over their host.
The Eagles jumped out in front 18-12 in the first quarter then used a 22-10 second-quarter scoring edge to boost the lead to 40-22 at the half.
Boyle presented a bigger challenge in the second half, edging Lincoln 20-18 in the third and fourth periods. But it was too little, too late as Lincoln used its early lead to move on for the win.
Three Eagles hit double figures, with Rodney Alcorn leading the way with 15 points and seven rebounds, Jackson Smith following with 15 points and Baylor Mattingly adding 10 points along with four assists.
Preston Barnes added nine points and had four steals, Blaise Brown had five points and four assists, Michael Henderson had two points and Bryson Young and Brady Weaver each had one point.
Garrard at Lincoln
6th Grade
Lincoln 49, Garrard 38
Garrard Middle fell short in its fourth-quarter rally effort at Lincoln County, with the sixth-grade Eagles holding off the visitors 49-38.
Lincoln opened the game with a 20-8 lead over Garrard in the first period and used a 9-8 second-quarter edge to make it 29-16 at the intermission.
The Eagles cushioned their lead just a little more in the third, outpointing Garrard 10-7 to make it 39-23 going into the fourth.
Double-digit scoring had eluded Garrard for most of the night, but the team came through in the final frame, pouring in 15 points. Despite the high-point production by Garrard, Lincoln still came out on top, dropping in 10 points to seal the win.
Zack Moore led Lincoln with 13 points and nine rebounds, Layne Lark added eight points, Colton Ralston and Jansen McAninch added seven points apiece, Xzavion Grey and Jackson Sims each had five points, Tramane Alcorn got three points, three assists, four blocks and four steals and Tommy Griffin had one.
7th Grade
Lincoln 83, Garrard 16
Lincoln’s seventh-grade team had little trouble against Garrard County, trouncing the visiting Cougars 83-16.
Lincoln blistered the nets for 51 first-half points, exploding ahead 30-6 in the first then outscoring Garrard 21-6 in the second.
The Eagles continued to roll in the second half, shutting out Garrard 17-0 in the third and 15-4 in the fourth.
Jaxon Smith led the way with 20 points and five rebounds and Tramane Alcorn had 12 points and three steals. Clayton Davis got nine points and three assists, Ryan York had nine points, Colin Green added eight, Colton Ralston had six, Jansen McAninch got five, Lawson Hon, four, Braxton Cooper, three, Lee Amon, Skyler Quinn and Layne Lark each had two and Cruise Wilson had one.
8th Grade
Lincoln 56, Garrard 20
Number “14” was the magic number for Lincoln’s eighth-grade Eagles in their 56-20 steamrolling of visiting Garrard County.
The Eagles put up 14 points each quarter while holding the Cougars to single digits, including a 14-0 first-quarter shutout.
Lincoln took a 28-6 lead into the break then outscored Garrard 14-8 in the third and 14-6 in the fourth for the easy win.
Lincoln’s top scorer was Baylor Mattingly with 13 points. Rodney Alcorn also hit double figures in the win with 11 points. He also had seven boards and five steals.
Jackson Smith put in eight points, Brady Weaver had six, Preston Barnes had five points and five steals, Riley Lark had five points, Cruise Wilson and Clayton Davis each had three and Blaise Brown had two. Cade Jenkins had three assists.
