There is not much going on here in the city of Stanford except for cold weather, rain, snow and ice. On some days there is sunshine. In the midst of all of this, we all should remain thankful, after all in a few months, we will be complaining about how “hot” it is (LOL). Oh well, so much for that….

Mr. James Hunn is in Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Mrs. Vyvyan Welch, the widow of Mr. James Phillip Welch. She has two daughters, Mrs. Vicci Penman and Mrs. Beverly Welch; one son, Mr. Michael Welch; and a host of relatives and friends. A graveside service was held at the Barrows Cemetery last Thursday with Rev. Floyd Raglin officiating. Mrs. Welch was 90 years old.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. Montez Graves.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Mr. Claude Smith, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Smith. He was a 1953 graduate of the former Lincoln High School. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Sympathy is also extended to the family of Mr. Nehemiah Eddrington of Baton Rouge, La., son of Mr. and Mrs. Teddy Eddrington. The funeral service was held at the Charity Christian Center in Baton Rouge.

Mr. James Hodgens of Goose Creek, S.C., recently visited family and friends which included Missy Whitis and Mrs. Brenda Cofer.

Mrs. Marchelle Mitchell of Florence visited her cousins, Mrs. Sandra Hill, Miss Trudy Gooch, Mrs. Margaret Brown and Mr. Glenn Gooch. Please continue to pray for Mr. Maurice “Zeke” Mitchell. He is a patient at UK Medical Center.

Mrs. Sara Givens entertained the “Golden Girls” on Friday at her home with a Valentine party which included Mrs. Audrey Perrin of Danville, Mrs. Priscilla Brown of Lexington, Mrs. Patricia Suter and Ms. Barthenia Brown of Stanford. Everyone enjoyed playing games, a sit down dinner and lots of laughter and prizes. Nothing like having friends!

Thought for the week: Forgiveness is the fragrance that the violet shed on the heel that has crushed it. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave us.
