Ashlyn Liddle of Waynesburg, a homeschooled high school student/athlete, has had a very strong finish to her 2019 season.
Liddle, representing Parlor Grove Christian, was the only female homeschool finisher in the Kentucky Dream Mile, which is an annual race held at St. Xavier High School in Louisville on the first Friday of May. For this race, only the 16 fastest girls and boys in the mile are invited from all across the state. These runners represent all divisions, including A, AA, AAA and homeschooled athletes.
Liddle qualified last season and finished 15th in the girls race. This year, she finished in third place with a time of 5:05, only two seconds off the winning time.
In one of her final meets of the season, the Lincoln County High School All-Comers held on May 7, Liddle capped her season with a record-breaking win in the 800-meter dash. She covered the distance on the LCHS track in a time of 2:20.55, breaking a 19-year-old record, which was set by Jessica Southers of Russell High School.
Liddle will be the fastest returning high school miler in the state of Kentucky next track season.
