Kentucky State Police are investigating a double fatality crash that took place at approximately 6:20 p.m. Monday evening.

The KSP London Post responded to the crash on US 27 N at the intersection of 27 and KY 70 in Pulaski County.

According to a release from KSP, a 2012 Toyota pickup driven by Philip C. Hall, 39, of Eubank, was traveling west on KY 70 when he attempted to cross the northbound lane of US 27 and collided with a 1994 Ford pickup that was also traveling north on US 27. The truck was driven by Barbara Haste, 56, of Waynesburg. Evidence at the scene shows that Haste attempted to avoid the collision, according to KSP.

As a result of the collision, Haste and her passenger, Diane Haste, 59, of Waynesburg, were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by the Pulaski County coroner’s office.

Neither Hall nor his juvenile passenger were injured in collision. An autopsy was scheduled for both Barbara and Diane Haste in Frankfort at the state medical office.

Alcohol is suspected in the crash, and toxicology is pending, according to KSP. Hall was arrested by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence (1st); wanton endangerment (1st); and failure to use a child restraint device in a vehicle.

KSP Post 11 Trooper Larkey is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by Post 11 personnel, the Pulaski County SRT, Eubank Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Eubank Fire Department, and the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office.
