Ephraim McDowell Health announces that Jason Dean, BSN, RN has been named Administrator at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital and Vice President of Clinical Effectiveness at Ephraim McDowell Health and Dr. Shannon Long, DNP, MHA, MSN, has been named Chief Nursing Officer at

Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital and Vice President of Patient Care Services at Ephraim McDowell Health. Both Dean and Long will be taking over for Ina Glass who is closing out a 43-year healthcare career when she retires in December. Glass has served as Administrator at Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital since 2015 and Chief Nursing Officer there since 2002.

Dean joined the Ephraim McDowell Health family in 2008 and currently serves as Executive Director of Clinical Effectiveness. He earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2004 from Utica College of Syracuse University in Utica, NY. He completed an Executive Healthcare Leadership and Management program in 2017 from the Gatton College of Business and Economics at the University of Kentucky. He holds a green belt in Lean Six Sigma and is an experienced examiner for the Kentucky Center for Performance Excellence. Jason has overseen all COVID-19 operations since the pandemic began in March 2020, and has been a key leader in our outstanding response to the virus as well as in overseeing our Vaccine Clinic.

Long is a registered nurse who currently serves as director of the Obstetrics Unit at Fort Logan Hospital. She has been employed at Fort Logan Hospital since 2001. Shannon has a number of credentials including DNP, MSN, MHA, RNC-OB, C-EFM, IBCLC, CLC, and C-ONQS. In 2011, she earned a master’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix and in 2021, she earned a doctor of nursing practice degree from Walden University.

Long is a board member of the Kentucky Organization of Nurse Leaders (KONL) and she serves as the Information Officer and Chair of the Scholarship Committee. She also serves on the Board for the Kentucky Chapter of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses. She was voted Lincoln County’s Healthcare Provider of the Year in 2016 and she is a professor for Campbellsville University. In her new role as CNO, she also will have administrative oversight over Ephraim McDowell Home Health and McDowell Place of Danville.
