The Lincoln County Middle School Eagles decided to do some extremely early spring cleaning at the Salt River Conference Postseason Tournament Tuesday at LCMS, and broke out the brooms.
The Eagles swept all three Salt River Conference crowns … but not without some nailbiting. The sixth-grade Eagles completed their perfect run (14-0) through the conference with a comfortable 64-46 win over Bondurant Middle School, however, both the seventh-and eighth-grade teams battled to the end to hold off their opponents.
The seventh-grade Eagles beat Boyle County 49-44 to claim their title and the eighth-graders held off a late West Jessamine surge to win 42-39.
Finals’ results follow:

8th Grade Final
Lincoln 42, West Jess. 39
A 26-16 scoring run over the second and third quarters gave Lincoln County the cushion it needed to hold off West Jessamine 42-39 in the 8th-Grade Salt River Conference final.
Lincoln (28-5) found itself down early in the action, with West Jessamine posting a 14-11 lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Eagles had erased the deficit before the break, though, doubling up West’s scoring, 16-8, in the second quarter to take a 27-22 halftime lead. Lincoln then came out to outscore West 10-8 in the third quarter to make it a 37-30 ballgame heading into the fourth quarter.
West’s offense rebounded in the final frame to outscore Lincoln, however, the 9-5 edge would not be enough to overcome the Eagles’ lead.
Rodney Alcorn paced Lincoln in the win with 14 points 10 rebounds and four steals. Jaxon Smith also hit double figures, scoring 10 points. He also had four assists.
Baylor Mattingly and Blaise Brown both contributed six points in the win and Cade Jenkins, Michael Henderson and Riley Lark had two points apiece. Bryson Young had seven rebounds.
