Michael Rowe has resigned as superintendent of Lincoln County Schools.
Rowe’s last day will be Dec. 31.
At a Lincoln County Board of Education special-called meeting, the board voted 3-2 to enter an agreement with Rowe to become a consultant to the district beginning January 1 and ending June 30.
Per the agreement, Rowe would provide advice and consultation to the board within the area of facilities, budgets and human resources.
Rowe served as superintendent for six and a half years. The search for a replacement superintendent is expected to begin immediately.
The Board of Education will meet on Jan. 5 for its normally scheduled working meeting.
