United States Congressman James Comer visited Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center (EMRMC) and Select Specialty Hospital (located inside EMRMC) on Wednesday, March 15.  Following a redistricting, Congressman Comer is now representing Boyle County in the U.S. House of Representatives.

During his visit, Congressman Comer met with Dan McKay, president and chief executive officer, and Dr. Lynne Warner Lynn, chief nursing officer at EMRMC.  Both discussed the importance of EMRMC’s services to the population of a six-county service area, and they also shared with Congressman Comer future plans to expand the hospital’s Emergency Department and Behavioral Health Unit.

Congressman Comer toured EMRMC’s Intensive Care Unit, where he met Dr. Jason Bowman, critical care physician, and learned of the advanced care that EMRMC is now able to provide to critically-ill patients under Dr. Bowman’s direction.  He also toured the hospital’s Emergency Department and the Behavioral Health Unit before meeting with members of Ephraim McDowell Health’s Senior Leadership team.

“We were very honored to host Congressman Comer and his staff today,” said McKay.  “Congressman Comer has a legacy for being very involved in health care in the communities that he represents.  Now that he is representing Boyle County, we were pleased to welcome him so we could showcase the important services we provide to our six-county area.”

Congressman Comer, a native of Monroe County in Tompkinsville, was elected to his U.S. House Seat in November 2016 and has been re-elected in the past three elections.  He is chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Accreditation and also serves on the Committee on Education and Workforce.
