STANFORD – Despite the rain, the Stanford Christmas Parade was well attended on Saturday, as many flocked to the streets to watch floats, classic cars, horses, Santa Claus and more make their way down Main Street.
The theme of this year’s parade was “A Christmas Carol.”
Lincoln County Chamber Director Andrea Miller said it was a parade to remember.
“The parade was fantastic. We had so many great entries, lovely contestants and wonderful floats! Thanks for coming out in the rain,” Miller said following the parade. “We will always remember this parade. A very special shout out to our police, EMS and fire departments for all of their efforts to keep us safe and organized and my fabulous Board of Directors and volunteers who helped lineup and organize.”
It truly was a team effort, Miller said.
“Of course, thank you to our Judge-Executive Woods Adams and our Mayor Dalton Miller for all their support for the chamber and our community,” she said.
There were four awards given to parade floats including Best in Non-Profit or Church, Best Business Float, Judge’s Choice and Best Themed Float.
The winners were:
• Best in Non-Profit or church: The Gathering Place
• Best Business Float: Stanford Tire Center
• Judge’s Choice: ‘Whoville’
• Best Themed Float: Stanford Veterinary Clinic.
