DreamFlights Charities is hosting a Discovery event at the Danville-Boyle County Airport (Wings Flight Maintenance Hangar) on Saturday, May 18 starting at 11 a.m.
The event will give people the chance to learn about aviation opportunities for students, and even book an optional “Discovery Flight.” Guest entry is $5 and includes a meal. Discovery Flights are $65.
Discovery Flights are available to students ages 15 to 18. They are an opportunity to gauge student interest in aviation while providing a unique and memorable experience. Discovery flights also enable staff to consider comfort level, teachability, and margins of success for those interested in applying for DFC’s flight training scholarships.
Students will participate in a multi-legged flight to various airfields, each having their own time at the controls with one of our Certified Flight Instructors (CFIs). Prior to the flight, students will receive brief ground school instruction and join the instructor for a standard pre-flight check of the aircraft. Parents/guardians are welcome to remain at the airport to ask questions and learn more about DreamFlight‘s many programs and services.
DreamFlight Charities is a charitable organization based in the Central Kentucky area. We are looking to bring programming to this area, and much of what we do appeals to at-risk, underprivileged, and underserved students.
The organization looks to utilize flight as a transformative tool in the lives of students across Kentucky, offering unique experiences including discovery flights and flight training scholarships through our partnering flight schools. We also have mobile flight simulators that allow us to bring the exciting world of flight to even the most remote parts of the state and are always looking to encourage and help school districts that are looking to combine multiple disciplines into a single, creative outlet for their students.
At Saturday’s event, the charity founder will be sharing more in-depth information about our programs and services. We will even have some of our mobile simulators on hand, allowing you to see and experience all that we do firsthand.
People can RSVP by emailing info@dreamflightcharities.org, or by calling 270.849.5765.
