Glanda Yvonne (Claunch) Jones, 89 years of age, died Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Baptist Floyd Hospital in New Albany, Indiana with her family at her side.
Yvonne was the youngest of 13 children, born to the late Leroy and Oma (Caldwell) Claunch on June 16, 1935. She was the widow of Harris Allen Jones, married on August 30, 1957. They had a wonderful life together. Harris served his country in the U.S. Army and Yvonne traveled and supported him all around the world. She was very proud of their service. After retiring from the Army, they resided in Eubank, Kentucky. They raised a garden and planted an apple orchard, sharing the fruits of their labor with family and friends. They were active in their community and even served as Santa & Mrs. Claus at Christmastime. Yvonne was a member of Eubank Church of Christ, and, after moving to Indiana, the Charlestown Road Church of Christ.
Yvonne loved going on bus trips with friends, visiting family, and watching her UK basketball team. In 2005 she moved to Clarksville IN, to live with her sister Gerry. In 2018, Yvonne moved to The Villages at Historic Silvercrest in New Albany, IN where she met many wonderful people, made new friends, and enjoyed the social time and activities. She touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all her friends and family.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harris Allen Jones; and her 12 siblings, Lillian Cloyd, Katie Early, Joe Claunch, Oma Lee Claunch, Mae Tillery, Elsie Carmicle, Gertrude Stonecypher, Fleeda McCurry, Mildred Campbell, Gearldean Snyder, James Claunch, David Claunch.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews, church family, and friends.
A funeral service will be Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 AM until time for services.
Burial will follow at Eubank Cemetery.
