KINGS MOUNTAIN – A collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck claimed the life of one man Saturday, according to Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum.
Dakota Bowling, 29, of Science Hill was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:20 p.m. on July 20 after a collision in the 500 block of Ky. Hwy. 501.
Marcum said Bowling was operating a 2003 VT-900 Honda traveling westbound when he lost control and entered the eastbound lane, coming into contact with a pickup truck.
“He lost control in that curve and when he did he kind of started sliding over and then there was a pickup truck driven by a local man out of Kings Mountain coming in the opposite direction,” Marcum said. “He tried to get away from him, the motorcycle, but there was a tree in the way.”
Bowling was not wearing a helmet. Marcum said he was ejected from the motorcycle.
No drugs or alcohol are suspected to be contributing factors.
The occupants of the pickup truck were taken to Ephraim McDowell Fort Logan Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The collision remains under investigation by the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Det. Sgt. Michael Mullins.
Mullins was assisted on scene by Lincoln County EMS and Deputies Russell Preston and Justin Dececca.
