Stanford departments give monthly reports

STANFORD – Stanford Police officers issued a total of 65 citations during the month of August, according to a monthly report given to Stanford City Council members.

SPD is currently working to fill two vacant patrol positions within the department, Police Chief Zach Middleton said.

Middleton said new training equipment has arrived and they are awaiting training and set up to get the program started. New police vehicles are also expected to arrive soon.

“As of right now we are holding steady,” Middleton said. “There has been an uptick in some activity as I’m sure you are aware of some of the school situations and the incidents in Laurel County making things a little tense, but everything is operating smoothly.”

SPD reported the following activity for the month of Aug.:

• Citations – 65

• Warnings – 30

• Arrests – 12

• Incidents/Cases – 32

• Accidents – 22

• Training hours – 162 (Departmental Role Call training, 2 hours; J. Williams/DOCJT Crisis Int., 40 hours; J. Milburn/DOCJT Firearm Inst. 2, 40 hours; J. Gilliland and J. Eldridge/DOCJT Personal Crimes, 80 hours)

The Stanford Fire Department responded to a total of 85 incidents in August.

The following incidents were reported:

• Building fire – 1

• Cooking fire, confined to container – 1

• Medical assist, assist EMS crew – 3

• Emergency Medical Service incident- 2

• EMS call, excluding vehicle accident w/ injury – 29

• Motor vehicle accident with injuries – 5

• Motor vehicle accident with no injuries – 1

• Gas leak (natural or LPG) – 1

• Electrical wiring/equipment problem, other – 1

• Power line down – 1

• Assist police or other governmental agency – 1

• Assist invalid (lift assists) – 4

• Cover assignment, standby, move up – 1

• Dispatched and canceled en route – 17

• No incident found on arrival at dispatch address – 2

• Authorized controlled burning – 6

• Prescribed fire – 1

• HazMat release investigation w/ no HazMat – 1

• False alarm or false call, other – 1

• Sprinkler activation, no fire, unintentional – 1

• Alarm system activation, no fire, unintentional – 1

• Wind storm, tornado/hurricane assessment – 1

• Lightning strike (no fire ) – 1

• Special type of incident, other – 1

Stanford Code Enforcement reported seven violations in August.

Code Enforcement gave 22 verbal warnings and issued 12 citations. The agency reported one demolition permit was granted, as well as two sign permits.

A total of 32 business license applications were issued or renewed in August.
