The Lincoln County Coroner has confirmed that a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on US 27 in Stanford late Dec 7.
Authorities identified the victim as 28-year-old Brian McKenzie Bourne. According to reports, Bourne was attempting to cross the northbound lanes of US 27 when he was hit. Emergency responders transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 11:58 p.m.
Law enforcement officials stated that the driver involved in the incident was questioned and subsequently arrested on unrelated charges. They also indicated that alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the collision.
The coroner has classified Bourne’s death as resulting from “accidental blunt force trauma.”
