The South Lincoln County Family Resource Center will hold an Advisory Council meeting at Waynesburg Elementary on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 1 p.m.  Meetings are open to all.

American Legion Post 18 monthly meetings

The American Legion Post 18 in Stanford meets the first Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library, 2nd floor. All veterans are welcome.

Stanford City Council October agenda

The Stanford City Council will meet Thursday, Oct. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the historic L&N Depot. Tentative agenda: Old Business – update City Ordinance; New Business: 1) discuss annexation; 2) 1st reading of ordinance amending Code Enforcement Officer duties; Executive Session – Discuss buying and selling property per KRS 61.810(1)(b); and Atmos Gas Franchise per KRS 61.810 (1)(g).

Diabetes Support Group to meet

The Lincoln County Diabetes Support Group will meet Thursday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at the Lincoln County Health Department. The topic for October is “Protect Against the Flu”. LCHS renews

SBDM Council

Lincoln County High School is returning to council status and electing members for a School-Based Decision Making Council. As a school with over 8 percent minority enrollment we are required to have a minority member on our council. Nominations are being accepted through September 30 for a minority parent to serve. For this Special Election only a parent/guardian of a minority LCHS student may run. “Minority” means American Indian; Alaskan native; African-American; Hispanic, including persons of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Central or South American origin; Pacific islander; or other ethnic group underrepresented in the school; Voting will take place October 3 at Lincoln County High School from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. One parent member will be elected to serve on the council. Information, including a nomination form, can be obtained at the school front desk or on our website.

 LC Health Department to host free Diabetes management course

The Lincoln County Health Department will be hosting a 2-part Diabetes Self-Management Training beginning October 18 and concluding on October 25. Both days will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held at the Lincoln County Health Department  This is a free comprehensive Diabetes Management Training course that will help attendees learn how to effectively manage their Diabetes. Annual Galilean Quilt & Craft Auction

28th annual Galilean Quilt & Craft Auction will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 13 and 14 on the campus of the Galilean Home. Friday’s schedule: 4:30 p.m. Spaghetti dinner, 6:30 p.m. singing program followed by craft auction. Saturday’s schedule: 7 a.m. pancake breakfast and 10 a.m. Quilt auction (lunch will be available). (Over 300 quilts and crafts will be auctioned off and there will be 100’s of buy-now items.)

City of Stanford city wide cleanup dates

The City of Stanford city wide fall cleanup has been scheduled for: October 16 through October 20 and October 23 through October 27. All items for pickup are to be placed at the curb. Items exempt from pickup are tires, batteries, paint cans, all hazardous chemicals. Tree limbs no longer than 6 feet and tied in bundles and placed by the curb will be picked up. LC Historical Society

to meet

The Lincoln County Historical Society will meet Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library, upstairs. The guest speaker will be Carolyn Crabtree with a presentation of “Susan Shelby Magoffin Across the Santa Fe Trail.” Light refreshments will be served. Board meeting will be at 6 p.m. in Community Room #2 on the second floor.

Pasture at Marksbury Farm, in the big red barn in northern Garrard County, is now, through October 28th, offering local fun.Come and enjoy a 5-acre corn maze, mini hay maze for kids, pumpkin patch, natural playground, barrel train rides and so much more. New, hands-on activities are added every week. Cedar Creek Sportsman’s Club annual fish fry

The Cedar Creek Sportsman’s Club will hold its annual fish fry on Saturday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 12 and 4 and under are free. Menu includes fish, hush puppies, potato wedges, cole slaw, dessert and drink. Will have a $500 cash raffle and a gun raffle. There will be door prizes, an auction and lots of fun.

LCHS Class of ‘92 to hold 25-year class reunion

The Lincoln County High School Class of 1992 will have its 25-year class reunion Saturday, Oct. 21, at Keeneland in Lexington.  Come join all your classmates for a tailgate style lunch starting at 11 a.m. A bar-b-que style meat will be provided. Please bring a side dish and your drinks along with some chairs. Then at 1:05 p.m., gates open for horse racing. LCHS Class of 1997 – 20 Year Reunion

LCHS Class of 1997 – 20 Year Reunion will be held Saturday, Oct, 21, from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Back Porch Club House Venue (formerly known as Dix River Country Club), 2220 Hwy. 27 N in Stanford. LCHS Class of 1997  – Family Fun at the Park will be Saturday, Oct. 21 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at First Southern Veterans Park (Soccer Complex Entrance) Lions Club Pavilion and Community Building, 400 Hwy. 150 East in Stanford.

Bring the family out to the park to socialize and have fun. We will have access to the pavilion, community building, and playground; Cotton candy and shaved ice will be available from 1 to 2:30 p.m.; and games for all. So rain or shine we will have fun. No RSVP required.

LC Cancer Coalition to host a free Lunch & Learn event

The Lincoln County Cancer Coalition will be hosting a free Lunch & Learn event on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library.  This is a free educational event and lunch will be provided, (limited to the first 20 registrants). Free educational materials will be given and door prize drawings will take place. The guest speaker will be Dr. Jannice Aaron Baughman. Good Grief Support Group

The Good Grief Support Group will meet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the second and last Thursday of each month at the Lincoln County Public Library. Blood drives

to be held

Blood donors help Kentucky patients and support the healthcare of their communities by providing life-saving blood components for patients who depend on transfusions. In a sense, they have the community’s back. That’s why Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) is providing a fun “I’ve got your back” T-shirt for donors at upcoming blood drives. Two blood drives are scheduled: The first will be held Monday, Oct. 9 from 3 to  7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Crab Orchard Elementary School, 137 Lancaster Street, Crab Orchard and the second is Thursday, Oct. 19 from 1 to 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the Stanford Presbyterian Church, 213 East Main Street, Stanford. Blood donors must be 17-years-old (16 with parental consent), weigh at least 110 pounds, be in general good health, show a photo I.D. and meet additional requirements. Youth Fall Fishing Derby

Youth Fall Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Logan Hubble Park. All participants need to sign in at the handicapped fishing ramp. Heavy rain/storms cancel.

ALS run set for

Sept. 30

KC’s Gymnastics is sponsoring its first “ALS Run to Remember” on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Millennium Park in Danville. You can register online at www.runsignup.com. There will be a 1 mile Kids Fun Run that starts at 8 a.m. and a 4 mile run/walk race that starts at 8:30 a.m. Kids Fun Run is $5 (no shirt included); 4 mile run/walk is $20 before Sept. 29 and $25 race day.
