Lincoln County’s cross country teams continued their treks toward improvement by competing in the recent Pulaski County All-Comers Meet, the Central Kentucky Conference Championships and the Tates Creek Invitational.
It was in the Pulaski County All-Comers Meet in Somerset that the Lincoln team’s posted their highest finishes overall.
Katherine Rowe had the best finish in varsity competition in the meet, covering the 3.1-mile course at the G.E. Plant in 26:01.71 to place 13th out of 66 runners.
Rowe’s top 15 finish was one of 12 for Lincoln on the GE course, with the Lady Pat varsity picking up two, all six of the Lincoln middle school girls getting top 15 and four of the seven Lincoln middle boys doing the same.
Logan Godbey, a senior, had the other Lady Pat varsity top 15 finish, earning the 15th spot with a time of 26:12.22. Victoria Dotson of Rockcastle County won the race in a time of 21:03.68.
Ava Morgan was Lincoln’s leader in the girls’ middle school run, placing fourth overall in the 3000-meter race in a time of 14:19.31. The Lady Patriot runners were all clustered in the race, with Alexis Slone placing sixth in 15:35.68, Chloe Tillett taking 10th in 18:43.89, Keri Kidd in 12th place in 20:11.52, Trinity Price 13th in 22:51.94 and Arianna Spiker 14th in 23:19.77.
LCMS seventh-grader Sam Singleton had the overall best local finish at Somerset, running strong in the boys’ 3000-meter run to claim the runner-up spot. Singleton turned in a time of 12:00.14 to place him behind first-place runner Jackson Estes of Whitley County, who had a time of 11:34.61.
Singleton’s running mates Jerek Pope, Hunter Smith and Elijah Johnson all finished in the top 15 as well. Pope came in sixth in 13:18.77, Smith ran 11th in 14:03.06 and Johnson was right behind Smith in 12th place in 14:07.04.
In the boys’ varsity run at Somerset, Lincoln’s Gabe Singleton finished 39th out of 86 runners in 23:07.56. 
Sam Singleton would put up top 10 finishes in all three meets, following up his runner-up finish in the Pulaski meet, with a fourth-place finish in the Central Kentucky Conference (CKC) Championships, also held at the G.E. Plant, and a ninth-place finish in the Tates Creek Invitational at Masterson Station Park in Lexington.
Singleton’s time in the CKC meet was 10:31.29, but the race was just 2400-meters long. He completed the 3000-meter course at Masterson Station Park in 14:38.62.
