CRAB ORCHARD – Deputies were dispatched to Edwards Road Saturday after a caller reported a suspicious backpack on the side of the road.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Rob Oney, the backpack was located and determined to be a “shake-and-bake” meth lab.
The backpack was filled with various items including rock salt, starter fluid and a two-liter Mountain Dew bottle with pre-mixed substances inside.
“It was cooking inside the backpack when I got there so it hadn’t been dropped long,” Oney said.
Oney said these “shake-and-bake” meth labs are particularly dangerous and can explode, causing injury.
The Pulaski County Hazmat team responded to the scene to dispose of the materials, Oney added.
