Closure will clear course for foot race Oct. 30; two ramps remain open
FRANKFORT — One of three boat ramps at Cedar Creek Lake in Lincoln County will temporarily close to boat launching to provide a safer course for a foot race planned for Oct. 30.
The closure of the John Sims Boat Ramp, located nearest the dam, will aid safety by reducing traffic along the 19.65-mile Brickhouse Between-a-thon race course.
The ramp will close from 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, through 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30. Anglers with trailers in the parking lot will still be able to retrieve their boats and leave during the closure.
Cedar Creek Lake’s other two boat ramps will remain open. The mid-lake ramp is located off old U.S. 150, while the third ramp is located off Cowan Road.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is working with Lincoln County officials on the ramp closure to help support tourism in the area.
The race begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 30. Runners will start and finish at the historic William Whitley House.
Other than the temporary closure of Sims Ramp, access and fishing at the lake will not be affected.
