CLASSMATES of Sam Singleton pass out candles to some of the hundreds of people who turned out for Tuesday's candlelight vigil as they file through the gates at the LCHS track to remember the teen.

Hundreds of peopled gathered at the Lincoln County High School track Tuesday evening for a candlelight vigil to honor the memory of Sam Singleton.

The 13-year-old, a member of both the LCHS cross country and track and field teams and an avid kayaker, inventor and fledgling actor, passed away Monday afternoon.

The vigil featured inspirational music, dozens of teachers, friends and teammates sharing memories of Singleton, a memory lap for Sam by his cross country and track teammates and the lighting of candles as the crowd lined the track.
