Hundreds of peopled gathered at the Lincoln County High School track Tuesday evening for a candlelight vigil to honor the memory of Sam Singleton.
The 13-year-old, a member of both the LCHS cross country and track and field teams and an avid kayaker, inventor and fledgling actor, passed away Monday afternoon.
The vigil featured inspirational music, dozens of teachers, friends and teammates sharing memories of Singleton, a memory lap for Sam by his cross country and track teammates and the lighting of candles as the crowd lined the track.
