Prime Time Reading

Family Connections Family Resource Center was excited to host Prime Time Reading for the students of Crab Orchard Elementary.
The sessions included a meal, gift books, door prizes, and reading and discussions of selected books. The readings gave families the opportunity to interact with a storyteller and scholar, as well as with each other, while encouraging participation from each family member to become involved in the discussion of each story.
The goal of the Prime Time Reading program is to enhance the enthusiasm of the students for reading and the adventures reading can provide. Reading can expose students to places, things and adventures they have never considered.
We wish to strengthen our students reading abilities as well as encourage excitement for an ability that can only enhance their lives.
This opportunity was provided by the Steele Reese Foundation and the Kentucky Humanities Council.
