Boyd Day, of Stanford, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021, at his home. He was 89.
Born March 29, 1931, in Garrard Co., KY, he was a son of the late Nathan Alford Day and Delia Lee Brock Day. Boyd retired after 28 years working as a section foreman for the Milwaukee Railroad Company and for the Canadian Pacific Railroad. He was a US Army veteran. Boyd enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and hunting for mushrooms.
Survivors include his dear wife, Louise Haggard Day, whom he wed on November 17, 2007; sons, Bill (Shelly) Cochran, Johnny (Kristy) Day, and Robert (Sherry) Day; step-sons, Kevin (Jennifer) Brown and Richard (Paige) Brown; step-daughter, Rebecca May; sisters, Mary Ruth Pointer, Para Lee Bean, Gladys (Maurice) Green, and Barbara Ann (Lonnie) Napier; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
Boyd was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Cochran; step-sons, Barry and Keith Brown; step-daughter, Paula Vanderpool; brothers, Jerry, Bill, Robert, and Ernie; and sisters, Christine, May, Hazel, and Margaret.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in the Caney Fork Cemetery with military honors by the Casey County Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM on Wednesday at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home. Facial coverings are required and social distancing must be followed.
Pallbearers will be Robby and Johnny Day, Kevin, Robbie, and Boyd Brown, and Matthew Mirowski. Honorary pallbearers will be Carol Wethington and Bill Cochran.
