James T. Owens, 91, of McKinney, KY passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, KY. Born on December 5, 1929, in Highland, KY to the late Clarence and Dovie Yocum Owens. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include four sons, James “Buck” Owens (Paulette) of New Salem, KY, Jackie Owens (Rita) of Geneva, KY, Marty Owens of Stanford, KY and Garnett Owens (Teresa) of McKinney, KY; three daughters, Barbara Walls (Dale) of McKinney, KY, Shelia Harris (Scott) of McKinney, KY and Bonita Gilliam (Dannie) of McKinney, KY; three sisters, Wanda Allison (Lewis), Norma Manuel and Wilma Jean Hill (Billy); nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and some great-great-grandchildren that he knew. He enjoyed the times Conner and Chase would stop by and visit with him and the weekends when Tucker, Easton, and Riley would come and see him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dovie Owens; wife, Catherine Brown Owens; one daughter, Corena Yocum; two brothers, Lynard Owens and Sherman Owens.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 1:00 pm with Bro. Mike Yocum officiating. Burial will follow at Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers are Marty Owens, Garnett Owens, Jamie Owens, Sherman Owens, Christopher Yocum, Edward Walls, Ryan Owens, and Gabriel Owens. Honorary Pallbearers are Stephanie Terry, Nicole Hurst, and Brooke Harris.

The family of Mr. James T. Owens would like people to know that everyone is welcome to the visitation and funeral services. However, they don’t want people to feel obligated to come to the visitation or funeral service concerning their own family’s health and safety.
