Esthel “Shorty” Lewis Cooper, 104, of Hustonville passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, in Danville. He was the son of the late Orb Cooper and Maude Daffron Lacy. He was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church and a founding member of the VFW in Oneida Tennessee. He was a US Army Veteran. After being discharged from the army, he owned and operated Oneida Super Market in Oneida, TN for 30 years. Shorty spent the next 50 years as a farmer, enjoying gardening and raising cattle. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcat basketball and football fan. In his younger years he spent his time traveling to his favorite fishing spots – from Norris Lake to Canada. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Jeter Cooper; daughter, Gail Cooper Heinz; sister, Elsie Butcher; brothers, Kenneth and Benton Cooper; and niece, Betty Cooper. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Cooper Hurst of Oneida, TN; granddaughter, Alice Strunk and husband, Roy of Winfield, Tennessee; great-granddaughter, Ansley Marcum Muse, and husband, Ryne of Robbins, Tennessee; nieces: Jane Marie (Bill) Coleman, Rose Anne (Rick) Hack, Karen Cooper, and Susan Cooper; nephews: Earl (JoAnn) Cooper, Don (Barbara) Cooper, Gary (Marion) Cooper, and Kenny Cooper; special friends: Harold Brewster, Nat Carson, Ronald Baird, Bill Boyatt, Ray Turney, and Alma Canada; and special caregiver and friend, Tish Russell and Brittney Lyman. Visitation is 11am-1pm, Monday, July 25 at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow at 1pm with burial at Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers are Roy Strunk, Ryne Muse, Zach Kersey, Stormy McDonald, Clayton Cooper, and Gary Cooper. Honorary Pallbearers are Ronald Baird, Ray Turney, Earl Cooper, Don Cooper, Nat Carson, and Harold Brewster. Memorial Contributions are suggested to Mt.
